Our History
1968
ReNewIt by Kurtis can trace its history back to 1968 when Louis Kuretzky began Kurtis with a single location for wholesale countertops and stock kitchen & bath cabinets.
1969
Louis’s sons Howard & Marty Kuretzky joined the business. Kurtis opened its first retail showroom in Detroit, providing on-site inventory to service do-it-yourself clients and small contractors.
1986
Kurtis launches its wholesale division to assist the trade.
1994
Wayne Weintraub joined as VP of Operations to help facilitate growth & success with necessary business changes. The growth required a move to a larger warehouse and distribution facility in Livonia.
1999
Kurtis developed a full-service installation division providing carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, tile, etc. Howard’s son, Aaron Kuretzky joins Kurtis.
2014
Kurtis remodels all 4 showrooms in the Metro Detroit area to stay on trend. Kurtis commits to updating the showroom yearly to stay up to date with everything new in the market. Wayne’s son, David Weintraub joins Kurtis.
2017
Kurtis launches the Home Solutions By Kurtis brand. This is our in-home consulting division that offers cabinet refacing and cabinet refinishing. The third generation of the Kurtis family is now in place and Kurtis’s future relies on innovative ideas and family-owned values.
2023
The Home Solution Division introduces its One Day Bath program in partnership with WetWall. Kurtis renovates its 80,000 SQ FT headquarters in Livonia.
2025
After years of success as Michigan’s cabinet refacing and cabinet painting expert, the family behind Kurtis Kitchen & Bath creates a new company: ReNewIt By Kurtis.
