The team at ReNewIt by Kurtis aren’t just professionals in home improvement projects, they also care enough to put the safety of their customers and employees first.

Since Day 1, all paint and products used by ReNewIt have been non-toxic and water-based. That simple fact means a lot to all involved. We asked Aaron Kuretzky, a principal owner at ReNewIt, all about it.

“We’re working in peoples’ homes,” Aaron says, “often in homes with small children and pets. A lot of companies use products that are oil-based paints. Ours are not. We don’t want to create a toxic environment.”

The decision to invest in higher standards is one way ReNewIt stands out from the competition. Aaron recalled an experience early on when he was working in a customer’s home. While renovating the kitchen, the team requests the family stay out of the room while work is being done. It’s a safety precaution. But we know, sometimes, a homeowner just needs to access that room.

“You’re not going to tell a mother to stay out of a kitchen when she has to heat up a baby bottle,” Aaron says. “I wouldn’t have felt comfortable with her using the kitchen if we used any other products. I slept well that night.”

Those safety measures and courtesy extend to the processes behind their work, too.

Not only will ReNewIt professionals use water-based, non-toxic and high-quality Sherwin Williams paints, but the team also implements a direct venting process during application and installation to eliminate any possible exposure to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

These are chemical emissions can result from painting. It’s not a necessary step when using safe, non-toxic formulas but an extra precaution.

“We don’t have to do this, it’s a courtesy for our customers,” Aaron says.

The use of these safer products means that ReNewIt employees work in a safer environment day-to-day, too. “It makes a real difference for all involved,” Aaron adds.
